BIG FAMILY
MISSION TO RUSSIAN ORPHANS

BIG FAMILY MISSION
Coordinator for North American Outreach

Purpose for this position:  The Coordinator for North American Outreach is responsible for
building relationships among churches, ministries, and individual Christians to help Big Family
Mission continue its ministry to orphans and children at risk in Russia and Eastern European
countries.  Because the Coordinator will be working extensively with individuals and groups
who speak Russian, it is essential that the Coordinator be fluent in both Russian and English
language.

Activities and responsibilities will include:
•        One or two mission trips to Eastern Europe each year, with total of two to three months
likely spent abroad.  (Mission trips would include visits to orphanages, as well as meetings
with pastors and volunteer leaders in Eastern Europe.)
•        Making presentations and giving updates on Big Family Mission’s work to churches in
North America (including Russian-speaking congregations).
•        Contributing to and helping develop the monthly newsletter and other Big Family
communications materials.
•        Seeking out opportunities to communicate Big Family’s vision and mission to churches
and other Christian organizations.
Essential requirements:
•        Ability to speak English and Russian fluently.  (By “fluently”, we mean that the
Coordinator will need to be able to make presentations to both Russian and English-speaking
congregations without the need of an interpreter.)
•        Excellent communication skills
•        Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (especially Word and PowerPoint)
•        Strong desire to bring Russian orphans into God’s big family
•        Excellent skills in relating with others
•        Ability to travel extensively

Big Family Mission is committed to sending 100 percent of all missionary support donations
to the mission field; nothing is taken out for administrative expenses. Therefore, to cover
salary and employee expenses, the Coordinator will put together his or her own personal
support team—family, friends, churches and others—who will partner with them by prayer and
by sending financial gifts to Big Family Mission for their support. In this way, you are able to
serve at no expense to the mission field, and you have a team of people to hold you up in
prayer. Big Family Mission can provide training and resource materials to help with building
your team.  Also, through special donations, most of the travel expenses for this position can
be funded directly by Big Family Mission.

Support will be based on need, not on position or seniority.
We expect that most of the “office work” for this position would be from the home of the
Coordinator, so relocation is not necessary.
Serving as our Coordinator for North American Outreach is definitely a calling, not an
occupation.  We very much desire a long-term relationship and growing together with our
Coordinator.

We consider filling this position with God’s special person to be very important to the
continuing work of Big Family Mission.

Big Family Mission is organized as a mission society.  Our spiritual covering and 501(c)(3)
status are derived from our affiliation with Lighthouse Ministry and Lighthouse Community
Church (home church of Ken and Dianne Dockery, founders of Big Family Mission).  Our
mission society is inter-denominational, and we encourage churches and Christians from
different denominations to get involved with God’s mission to His special children in Eastern
Europe.
