Sponsor a child or help sponsor the
entire orphanage in India:
 You can
choose to sponsor a child or you can help
sponsor the entire orphanage by contributing
monthly. You can contribute
as little as $5
per month
to help buy food for the children,
or your gift of $29 per month will provide
shelter, food, clothing, education, and warm,
loving environment for your sponsored child.
100% of donated funds go to India to
provide basic needs for the orphans.
  • Why India?  Although India has developed economically in the past decade,
many children face a bleak future without family.  It's estimated that 11 million
children in India have been abandoned.  Total number of orphans is estimated at
26 million, and about 14 million children are child laborers.  Sponsoring a child in
India provides the opportunity to establish a long-term relationship with a child if
you wish to do so.  You are able to send letters, cards, and packages
directly to India (rather than going through an organization).  You can
communicate directly with the orphanage director if you wish to do so.  So,
sponsoring a chiid in the orphanages overseen by Pastor George Fernandes
provides a very personal form of child sponsorship.

  • New Hope Children's Home... it all began with Sarala: Sarala was 8
months old when her poor parents left her on one of the streets of Bangalore city
having diagnosed that she is suffering with chronic asthma and further with the
superstitions that first girl-child in not a blessing to the family. Hence they wanted
to discard her to avoid unwarranted future. Nearby slum-dwellers found the child
as she was bitterly crying with hunger and thirst. They tried to find her parents in
that vicinity but their efforts turned futile. Therefore, though their poverty does
not allow another baby into their home but they decided keep the child, thinking
she would be a little source of income from 6 plus years onwards.

As Sarala turned 6 plus, her adopted parents began to send her to nearby
houses for work. Sarala’s work at this tender age was to wash dishes and clean in
different homes. In one and half year her health conditions turned pathetic.
Spending several hours in water in early hours, her feet cracked and started
bleeding, her breathing problems increased and she became weak and hopeless.
As a result her ‘situational parents’ were in search to get rid of her
    permanently.

This was the time George Fernandes, a young theologian from Bangalore
undergoing transformation to bring a new hope to disadvantaged children as he
was moved by seeing some such children on the streets of Bangalore.

When slum dwellers came to know that George Fernandes is in interest of
sheltering orphan and semi- orphan children, they brought her to him and left
her. Sarala was brought in the condition that she was very weak, her feet was
with wounds and bleeding, and she was not able to walk and literally crawled
on her belly. George received her with love and compassion. He cleaned her
wounds, bought her new clothes and gave her first time food of her taste, thus
new hope began in her life. This was the humble genesis of the New Hope
Children Home in March 2001 in the Metropolitan city of Bangalore with faith in
    the Lord Jesus Christ.

It was God’s will and plan that Dr. Max and Mrs. Mickey Burgin were visiting India.
George Fernandes met them in Bangalore Baptist Hospital. Hearing George
Fernandes vision and knowing his heart of compassion, they extended their
support and helping hands. This gave tremendous encouragement and joy to
George to plan to formally begin New Hope Children Home.

Today, Pastor George and his family oversee three orphanages, where
over 120 children are living and growing in a loving, Christian family environment.

  • Partnership with Big Family Mission:  Big Family Mission, an outreach to
orphans based in the United States, partners with Pastor George and his
orphanages.  Through this partnership, families in the U.S. (and other countries
around the world) may become sponsors of an individual child or children in one
of the orphanages under the care of Pastor George.  For those who reside in the
United States, this allows monthly donations for child sponsorship to be tax-
deductible.  Big Family Mission receives no compensation in any form (other than
being blessed to help): all funds donated for Pastor George's ministry to
orphans go directly to India to provide food, clothing, shelter, and
    education for sponsored children.

  • Who are these children?  Each child has a precious story about how they
came to live in these orphanages.  If you are interested in child sponsorship,
please send see links at left to video and photos of children.  Also, link to begin
    your sponsorship.

  • Why sponsor a child at New Hope Children Home in India?  Here are
a few good reasons to sponsor a child and partner with Pastor George
    Fernandes:

  • This child sponsorship program is unique because sponsors have the
ability, if they wish, to write letters and correspond directly with their
sponsored child in India.  (In most child sponsorship programs, letters go
through a home office in the USA.)
  • The children at these orphanages are in extreme need of love and
support.  Read some of the stories of the children to better understand
    how grateful they are to be in this program;
  • Pastor George expects the children to be with him until they complete their
education and can be self-supporting, so it is possible to see a child
    develop through their lifetime;
  • Yes, it is possible to visit children at the orphanage.  You are
    welcome!
  • Sponsoring a child in India provides you and the child an opportunity to
learn more about each other's culture.  (Did you know that in India it is
perfectly polite and okay to eat with your hands?)
  • Your sponsorship donation is used 100% for food, clothing, shelter,
education.  You pay nothing for administration fees, handling fees, etc.
  • You can even communicate directly with Pastor George about important
    matters.
