Our Big Family Mission newsletter is usually filled with photos of children, our volunteers in Russia, and
our family in Russia.
Our May 2009 newsletter brings you a prayer and a dream: the Faith Center at Kommunar, Russia.
Above, you can see an artist portrayal of the dream. Among other Christian activities and purposes, the
Faith Center will provide a home for orphans to be rehabilitated and to learn God’s plan for their lives.
Today, the building that will someday be the Faith Center is a half-completed structure. Through the
Russians Reaching Russians organization, the church in Kommunar was able to buy the building many
years ago. Plans for the future of the building have been on hold until just recently. Now the church at
Kommunar is moving boldly forward with a plan to complete the building and to put it into action for Christ’s
Kingdom.
The next step is to put all sections of the building under roof. As you can see from the drawing, there are
a lot of roofs! The church at Kommunar has raised funds for a portion of the roof project, but they need
$20,000 to complete all of the roofing stage of the project. As soon as the roofs are complete, the church
will move forward with finishing the structure. Church members and volunteers will do much of the work.
Big Family Mission does not normally get involved with raising funds for capital projects, but we see how
the completed Faith Center will be a huge blessing for Russian orphans who so desperately need training in
vocational and life skills. Plans are that the building will also provide temporary housing for missionaries
who are called by God to work in Russia. It will be indeed be a Center of Light among much darkness!
So… when we visited Russia in March and saw how the church is moving forward, we promised Pastor
Andrey (Kommunar Word of Faith Church) that we would provide the opportunity for American families and
churches to get involved with completing Kommunar’s Faith Center.
If you or your church feel led by God to make a donation to help complete the Faith Center, we have
wonderful news: up to $10,000 of your gift will be matched dollar per dollar by a generous pledge.
Therefore, if you decide to give $100, your gift becomes $200. If you give $1,000, your gift will be likewise
matched and become in effect $2,000. And if you wish to contribute $10,000, we can provide all the funds
needed for the roofs!
